Who are we?

Keturah

I'm Keturah & one of the breastfeeding mothers who run Cradles.

I was asked in April 2005 by my health visit if I would like to do the Le Leche League training to become a Breastfeeding Peer Counsellor as I had coped well with breastfeeding my daughter. With the support of my husband I agreed & I am so glad I plucked up the courage to walk into the training room in May 05 as I have met some lovely people some of which have become close friends.

I really enjoy the time I spend meeting the local community, supporting other mums & meeting more warm & friendly people.

Lorraine

I’m Lorraine, also 1 of the mums who run Cradles.

I was asked by someone I know who works for Sure Start if I would be interested in attending a course for peer support in breastfeeding. At the time my second daughter was only 3 months old and for me feeding was going great as it had done with my first little girl. I was a little apprehensive at first but after giving it some thought I agreed. Part of my reason for doing the course was because there was nothing like it in the area and even though I thankfully had very few problems there were a couple of questions I had but didn’t feel I could ask my health visitor just in case she thought they were daft! I am so glad I attended the course as I now know that there is no such thing as a daft question and also I have met some great people who had similar if not the same questions! I have made some great friends and am now able to help other mums and mums to be feel that they have someone to turn to even for the little things x
